Most of us Padede Mums, once in our breastfeeding journey experienced painful and sore nipples. I am not exempted and suffered a lot, to the point of thinking to stop and use a formula for my little one.
It is still fresh in my memory how painful it was. Every time he cried my whole body is trembling because I was traumatized by the pain. I cried and shout in every suck and sometimes put a cloth in my mouth just to bear the pain. In short, it was super duper painful padede moment. It lasts for three months. How was that?!
The question now, “what are the things that make me going despite the pain?”. Simple.
- I join breastfeeding support group “Breastfeeding Pinays” on facebook. Knowing that I am not the only person who experienced that makes me feel better. I know, I am not alone and if they can, “I can”.
- I used nipple cream. Go for a good brand. I tried Pigeon Nipple Cream first but seems not that effective for me. Luckily, my friend (a member of breastfeeding pinay as well) gave me Lansinoh Nipple Cream. She got it from another member of the group and shared it with me. It was good and really do helps me. The good thing about this product is I don’t need to wash it before feeding my LO.
- My LO (little one). My first born was formula baby and he is very “masasakitin” so, I decided to breastfeed my second child and it is true! He has never been admitted to the hospital, unlike my first child who is yearly confined.
Those three things helped me to battle my sore nipples.
